Sherman IL, February 8, 2011: Walker Standardbred’s announced today that all stud fees for the 2011 breeding season will be reduced by 50%. This action is a direct response to the poor economic condition of the Illinois racing program and is a means to share the uncertainty and risk with its customers. Stud fees will return to their full advertised price only in the event that favorable horse racing legislation is passed by the Illinois General Assembly during the 2011 Spring Session.
Walker Standardbreds was established in 1976 by Dr. Ken Walker and his wife Pat. The Walkers have earned national recognition as leading breeders of standardbred race horses and foals raised by them carry the well known surname “Fox Valley”. The Walker Standardbred stallion roster includes Sportsmaster, Richess Hanover, Yankee Skyscaper, Pizzazed and new for the 2011 season, Powerful Emotion. All questions regarding this action should be directed to Dr. Ken Walker at 217-496-2378.
